Mike Williams happens to be a really, really good wide receiver. Oops, I forgot I am writing this in 2008 not 2003. Unfortunately, Williams hasn’t been a dominant wide receiver since his sophomore season at USC five years ago, which happens to be about twenty years in internet time.
So keeping up with modern times, the Tennessee Titans have recently released Williams, closing what appears to be the final chapter of his disappointing professional career.
The ever popular NFL Draft guru Matt Millen and the Detroit Lions made Williams the 10th overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, and he’s been a huge disappointment ever since. “Big Mike,” as he came to be known in Detroit for his weight not performance, showed up to camp constantly overweight and out of shape, while failing to demonstrate the the slightest bit of commitment and interest in the game of football.
Subsequently, he was dealt to the Oakland Raiders, which actually happens to operate an even more pathetic NFL franchise than Detroit, for just a fourth round draft pick.
A year later he found himself vying for a roster spot in Tennessee.
However, to his credit, the reports out of Titans camp were indicating that he had finally committed himself to conditioning and losing weight. There was some small hope that the 6’5″ Williams could make the team and be a solid contributor this season.
Instead, he has been booted off the team after just one week of training camp, and tt now seems quite likely that his once promising NFL career is over, at the young age of 24.

What a waste of talent. This is embarrassing for USC fans
