The Angels showed no sign of slowing down, as they tourched Yankee pitchers Ian Kennedy, Darrell Rasner, and Brian Bruney, for seventeen hits in a 10-5 victory over New York.
The Angels were led by Torii Hunter, who went was 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, and Howie Kendrick, who tied a career high with four hits. Vladimir Guerrero also had a big day, as he had three hits and scored three runs for the Angels. Everyone in the starting lineup contributed to the 17-hit attack except leadoff batter Chone Figgins, who was 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.
Despite the offensive fireworks, Jered Weaver’s starting performance left much to be desired. Weaver allowed five runs and seven hits over six innings of work, including solo homers by Xavier Nady and Alex Rodriguez. Not the best performance, but fortunately, he did get enough run support.
Now, tonight’s best are…
Top 3 Angels Performers
1.) Torii Hunter looked like he can also provide some protection for Vladdy, as he went was 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
2.) I am so glad that I have Howie Kendrick on my fantasy team this year. Kendrick tied a career high with four hits and also had an RBI and a run scored.
3.) Vlad Guerrero had a big night by going 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. I bet he loeves having Mark Teixeira hitting right in front of him.
Angels Jeff Weaver of the Day (Note: JTD denotes the Angel that played the poorest): Leadoff batter Chone Figgins struggled at the dish, as he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.
Play of the Game: Torii Hunter’s solo home run in the bottom of the seventh gave the Halos a more comfortable two run lead and the other Angels batters added 3 runs of their own following his blast.
What to look for next game: John Lackey step onto the mound, as he will look to get the victory, which he failed to get in last Sunday’s defeat in the Bronx.
Game is Saturday @ 12:45 PM (Fox 11).
