Week Four of the 2008 College Football Season ended about an hour ago. Here are the POPS and DROPS and the Top 25 as I see them.
If SEC fans are wondering why Florida is ranked ahead of LSU read my comment below under POPS.
- Florida (3) 30-6 over the Vols moves back into a tie at #2 with the idle Sooners.
- LSU, which was tied with Missouri at #4, retains sole possession of the 4-spot with its win over Auburn. Although they lost, Auburn moves up a spot from 15 to 14 on their good showing against LSU. However, Auburn could only edge Mississippi State 3-2 last week, and this week Georgie Tech crushed Miss. State, 38-7. Hmm?
- Alabama (11) moves back into the Top 10 at #10 clobbering Arkansas 49-14.
- Texas Tech (10) popped to # 9 destroying UMass.
- BYU pops from 18 to 15 with another impressive shutout, this one over Wyoming, 44-0, following its 59-0 rout of UCLA
- Idle Oklahoma State and Nebraska each nudged up a spot to 18 and 19 respectively.
- Wake Forest pops from 22 to 20 with a 12-3 win over Florida State.
- Vandy nudges up from 24 to 22 with a win over Ole Miss.
- 3-0 Colorado pops into the Top 25 at #21 win a win over West Virginia.
- 4-0 Minnesota pops into a tie with idle Illinois at #25 with a win over hapless Florida Atlantic.
DROPS:
- East Carolina drops from 14 all the way to #24. Friday was National Speak Pirate
Day. Saturday was Tarheels upset Pirates Day, 30-24. This follows a near loss last week to Tulane. - Oregon Ducks (17) waddle back into the pond. Boise quacked them up, 37-32.
- Idle Wisconsin falls from #9 to #11 bumped back by strong wins from Texas Tech and Bama.
- Iowa drops from 21 to Unranked, losing to Pittsburgh.
