BREAKING NEWS: Washington to Hire Sarkisian

Steve Sarkisian is expected to become the next Washington head coach.

Steve Sarkisian is expected to become the next Washington head coach.

Rivals.com is reporting that USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will be the next coach at the University of Washington. Sarkisian, 34, will replace Tyrone Willingham with the winless Huskies, who end their season this Saturday against California.

Sarkisian, 34, has been coaching at USC since 2005. Previously, he was quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2004. Before his one year in the pros, Sarkisian was a former BYU quarterback and was an assistant for the Trojans from 2001-2003.

Sarkisian now becomes the second former USC assistant to get a head-coaching job this week. On Monday, the University of Tennessee announced the hiring of former USC offensive coordinator and Raiders coach Lane Kiffin.
