Current Pittsburgh basketball coach Jamie Dixon is considered by many to be an LA guy. He was born in Burbank, attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, and has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild for some time now. Because of his relation to the Los Angeles area and success at Pittsburgh, he has been rumored to be the leading candidate for the USC basketball head coaching vacancy.
But as I stated earlier this week, there is literally no chance that Jamie Dixon is going to become the next coach at USC. Seriously no chance. Get over it. But if you don’t take my word for it, than just take a glance at his Twitter page:
Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins on winning the Stanley Cup!
Congratulations to the Penguins on another Stanley Cup Finals appearance. Pittsburgh is truly the “City of Champions”.
I’m not much for translation coach speak, but I’ll give it a shot. “I really love the city of Pittsburgh. It’s a great city to coach in. I’m not entirely sure I’d want to leave, even for LA.
Dixon’s intentions become even more clear.
I am looking forward to coaching this team.
If that doesn’t put the nail in the coffin, I’m not sure what exactly does. In this series of tweets, Dixon is essentially telling the general public that he loves coaching the Pitt Panthers and he’s not interested in leaving for USC. Granted that’s much similar to what Nick Saban said when he was at Alabama and what Urban Meyer said when he was at Florida, but I get the feeling that Dixon is a pretty clean-cut, honest guy. The same can not be said for many of the coaches, who do decide to jump ship. It’s an interesting story to keep tabs on, but as I said before, I have a tough time imagining Dixon leaving to coach a program in USC that could be on serious NCAA probation.
