UCLA linebacker Reggie Carter is not afraid to speak his mind, especially when it comes to the Bruins’ fortunes in the upcoming 2009 season. The senior captain was irked with this year’s Pac-10 media poll, which predicted a seventh-place finish for Carter and company:
“Six teams better than us? I’m not even going to get into that,” he told a table of reporters during Thursday’s media day. “They talked bad about Jesus too.”
Carter also suggested UCLA’s defense is too good for such a low finish.
“I think we’re going to have the best defense in the conference,” he said. “I say that with confidence. I know how much talent we have and how much potential we have. We’re going to showcase it.”
But he didn’t stop there
“With Kevin Prince running the offense, if he just does what he’s been doing all spring, playing with confidence and composure, we should have eight or nine victories. He doesn’t have to do much to do better than last year.”
I’m guessing Carter is more friendly with his Prince than backup quarterback Kevin Craft.
