That’s a Wrap: Dodgers Take Series with Blowout

Dodgers Giants BaseballThe Dodgers came into San Francisco looking to right their ship, and boy did they ever.  After a 9-1 blowout victory, LA won’t have to worry about looking at a smaller division lead when they leave the Bay Area than they when they arrived.  Randy Wolf gave the bullpen a much needed rest for tomorrow, going eight innings while allowing only one run on three hits and a walk.  The Giants did strike first though, scoring in the third inning, but the Boys in Blue took advantage of an error that could have gone for a double-play to score four runs on back-to-back doubles and a single.  The Dodgers didn’t stop there, going on to score an extra five runs in the seventh, all from the long ball.  Manny Ramirez smacked a two-run shot to left-field, and after a walk and a single, Matt Kemp took one deep to straight-away center to pad the lead.

Eric Stults was demoted to Triple-A.  In place of him, Charlie Haegar, a knuckleballer, was called up…. Jeff Weaver will start the finale against the Hated Ones. However, with the off-day on Thursday the game could turn into a Johnny-All Staff start, with reliever after reliever making an appearance and pitching an inning while Weaver would just toss no more than three frames.
