He also said that if he was too good, he would still get the boot due to potential costs. Lakers Trade Odom to Make Room for Howard?

The Los Angeles Lakers sent Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks after trade talks broke down with New Orleans over Chris Paul, according to Marc Stein of ESPN and Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The move comes after David Stern’s controversial decision to nix an initial trade that would have sent Paul to the Lakers, Odom to New Orleans, and Pau Gasol to Houston. Apparently unable to get the young players and picks the NBA wanted to let a second attempt succeed, the Lakers sent Odom to Dallas in a move that appears to pave the way for a package of center Dwight Howard and forward Hedo Turkoglu.
