But let’s really think about that, the best team owners have always been successful businessmen who were unknown commodities without celebrity status at the time of their purchases. So the Dodgers need someone who will work with bright new ideas and strategies, far before someone whom the city wants to root for, as that comes naturally with all of the animosity towards Frank McCourt.

Somehow, someway, the Dodgers are in the running for Prince Fielder, according to Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago.

The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly the main suitors for Fielder at this point, with the Cubs still in the running.

The Dodgers and Prince Fielder haven’t been linked in any kind of serious talks before, but that could be changing if Levine is correct. GM Ned Colletti has said in the past that he was in the market for a bat, but has emphasized the need for the Dodgers to reduce their payroll for 2012.
